Gauteng Presbytery Meeting

The 2014 Gauteng Presbytery meeting began on the 27th of February and concluded on Sunday the 2nd of March.  Gauteng is one of the twelve presbyteries of the Lesotho Evangelical Church in Southern Africa (LECSA) and the only one in South Africa.  The Moderator of the Presbytery is Rev. Thabonyane Thamae of the Village Main Parish.

This year’s meeting was held at the Springs Parish.  Delegates to the meeting worked hard on various matters and heard reports from all bodies of the church.  It was reported that in 2013 the presbytery had managed to contribute M150,000 to the LECSA Central Fund.  Although this fell short of its targeted amount, one of the delegates said that they had been blessed in their efforts and had worked hard.

A powererful message was delivered to the delegates by one of the LECSA Executive Committee representatives, Evangelist Mrs. Marelebohile Taleli.  Also speaking on behalf of the Executive Committee, LECSA Deputy Moderator Rev. J. T. Makakane shared news with the delegates on the preparations being made for the upcoming Thuthuho celebrations being held in Morija over the weekend of 26-27th April.  He also touched on the special recognition that will be made of those members of the church who were born or baptised in 1964 and will be celebrating their Jubilee this year along with the church.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the installation of the Evangelist Ms. Mpolokeng Mokitimi by representatives from Morija Theological School (MTS).  During the ceremony she was presented with her Evangelist’s Certificate.  Representing MTS were Rev. T. S. Lentsoenyane, Rev. S. M. Pule and Mrs. J. M. Setlaba.  Members of the presbytery rejoiced greatly for having the opportunity to witness this ceremony.

The sitting of the presbytery was accompanied by good rains for which all gave thanks to God.  Delegates thanked the Almighty for His many blessings and giving them strength to do the work of His church in Gauteng.

Next year’s meeting of the presbytery will be held at Village Main Parish starting from the 26th of February 2015 and concluding on the 1st of March 2015.
